I wrote this piece in honor of my brother David who passed away in 2020. The spiritual song “Swing Low Sweet Chariot” is a song that I have sung since I was a child. My parents had a record, and it was “my song” to sing for my family members when they would come to visit. Being far from my home when my brother died, I imagined that chariot coming down for him, which was a source of comfort.
